Mixing
Audio mixing is the process of balancing the relative volume and frequency content of a number of sound sources, usually the different musical elements of a song.
When Everything Comes Together
Mixing is the last step your music will take before mastering. In the mixing process everything comes together. The music, instrumental or beats are balanced with the vocals. Tracks are equalized, panned and processed into a stereo image to be played (once mastered) in standard CD players, iPODs and DAT machines.
Independent vs. Major Releases
What separates the sound of an independent release from a major release is the process of editing and mixing. An independent artist might spend two hours editing and mixing his or her song. However, a major artist might spend one day editing and another full day mixing to achieve a clean, more polished audio.
